Pilots!
High quality graphics help make the planes in World of Warplanes look fantastic, but nothing compares to getting a chance to see some of these classic aircraft up close or in flight. Below is a collection of airshows that are happening around the country this month so you can have the chance to do just that. If there are any we missed, feel free to take some time to comment in the forum thread and let us know so we'll keep this article updated all month long.
The Sun 'n Fun Fly-in is one of the biggest air shows of the year. Best of all, the Wargaming Hummer will be in attendance! Look for Marcus during the event and stop by to say hello, play World of Warplanes, and have a chance to grab some awesome swag!
There will be a large range of aircraft on display from B-17s, P-51s, and a MiG-17! Check the official site for more information.
Who doesn't love a Mustang, whether it's a Ford Mustang from any era or a P-51 World War II fighter? This annual spring car and vintage airplane show, now in its 16th year, is the only Mustang event that showcases both restored P-51 Mustang aircraft and Ford Mustang autos of all eras, ages and styles. Show cars compete for a "People's Choice" award and the rare, restored P-51 fighters perform live aerial demonstrations. Children's activities, entertainment and photo opportunities are part of the special event, which each year attracts new fans with a shared passion for the restoration of aircraft and automobiles. Fantasy of Flight general admission is required to attend this event.
The Doolittle Raiders 71st Anniversary Reunion in Fort Walton Beach, FL, will be the last public reunion of these World War II heroes. Highlights of the Reunion agenda include the dedication of a Doolittle Raider Museum at Northwest Florida State College, a press conference and autograph session at the Air Force Armament Museum, along with two public luncheons (April 18 and 19) and a culminating “Victory Celebration” dinner on April 20.
Lots of planes will be on display such as an F-86 Super Sabre, P-51, as well as an epic fireworks display. Check out the official site for more details.
You'll have the chance to go on a ton of rides in vehicles such as the R-44 helicopter, Huey, Waco Open Cockpit Bi-Plane, Cessna, Powered Parachutes (PPC), and more! More details on the official site.
The 2013 Lauderdale Air Show will feature a diverse line up of aircraft demonstrations, low altitude flyovers, parachute team jumps, and aerobatic performances that will soar over the oceanfront in Fort Lauderdale Beach on April 20-21, 2013.
