Pilots!
Alpha_Mike_Foxtrot is one awesome pilot, and not only in World of Warplanes. In real life he knows how to handle an airplane as an accomplished pilot. Clearly he knows a thing or two about handling aircraft as it shows in his in-game ability, performing some amazing manuevers. So we thought it was time to sit down with him to learn a little bit more about this fine gentleman.
About 15 years
I have many hobbies. Among them are Woods Paintball, RC aircraft, flying real aircraft for fun (although I mostly do that for work now so I get paid to have fun), and target/Tactical shooting sports
A friend showed me World of Warcraft once, but my first invested MMO was World of Tanks.
Cajun Country.
I am 25 and have been flying general/civilian aircraft for the better part of nine years. I also went to college at a school that gave me Part 141 training that includes Multi-Engine Commercial and Single-Engine Certificates with instrument ratings as well as High performance aircraft training and conventional Gear (tail wheel) training and endorsements for both.
Since Alpha, I’m not sure how early I got in though.
My favorite accomplishment so far was taking an F2A into a tier 4-5 fight with 15 planes on each side and walking away with 10 kills. On one other occasion I formed a Flight with Autolycus and Wreckerpro and we proceeded to win 34 straight games with 1 loss. I don’t pride myself in kill count; aside from the F2A game because I didn't think it was possible till then. However, it’s the quality of the kills that entertain me. Being able to spend as little time on targets as possible as well as the never ending search for the perfect shot. We all know that shot. It’s kind of like playing mini-golf you takes your time; line up your shot and swing. That little tingle in your gut while the ball is flying perfectly toward its goal is the feeling I get when I get that perfect shot.
The F2A, because it is so underestimated, the P40 because of its historical roots, the ME 410 because it is the purest form of energy fighting and hunting in this game at tier 6, the La5 for those times I just feel like brawling. The F7U because it is a pure energy fighter. The F86 because I am a machine gun addict.
I have always liked the idea of this game removing the natural difficulties of flying an aircraft but keeping their essence for the most part. Yes some planes are not technically correct, but the point is that each one has a personality; each one almost has a soul. Take the La5 for example, Every time I get in it I have the almost unquenchable urge to fly screaming at the first enemy I see (or 4 enemies) howling "AHHHHH MOTHERLAND!!!!" But the next fight I get into I'll play the ME 262 and I can almost hear the plane saying "steady, keep your speed up...... good...... good..... There he is.... careful now, study him.... get a little closer..... EXCELLENT, he made a mistake.... get a little closer..... good. . . END HIM.... *enemy explodes*. The next fight, I’ll get into my p51d and the whole fight will be a combination of "Squirrel!!!" the long BRAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPP from my 50cals and "hehe I set you on fire.... BUUUUURRRRRNNNNN."
I like the ability to pick aircraft that fit how you want to fly. I like that I have the freedom to Hunt my prey in battle and have a plane that is good at hunting, or jump into the plane equivalent of a caffeine crazed squirrel and just have fun.
Don't rush, learn your planes, learn your controls, and learn YOURSELF. As for trade secrets, well.... you will just have to learn those in the theater.
My favorite map is a tie between Bay and Arctic, both have excellent variations and unique features that make fighting very entertaining.
Thanks, Alpha_Mike_Foxtrot for taking the time to chat with us a bit. You are truly awesome, and we are pleased to introduce you as one of our Community Aces.
