Pilots!
We want to introduce you to a very special community member. His name is Schultz and you may have seen him in the forums, in-game, or read some of his awesome guides for World of Warplanes. We also wanted to get to know Schultz a little bit better ourselves so we fired off some questions to him via email. This is what he had to say:
Wargaming: So, how long have you been a gamer?
Schultz: My first gaming experience started on a Terminator 2 console back in 1998 or so. It was very fun to play with your friends and the prices for the games were very cheap. Besides that console, my father had an old PC with MS-DOS on it, which got fixed by my cousin because it was broken. Unfortunately, I don’t remember what the names of the games were that I played on it, but I do remember how they were.
Usually at that time I had a reluctance of using the computer because I was afraid of breaking it and due to the fact that I didn’t had the necessary technical knowledge. I had that sense to preserve my belongings.
One day I was with my parents at a hotel, we were on a 7 day trip, and in that hotel there was some kind of computer room, where you could pay per hour to play on the computer and my father encouraged me to go and play. The guy that took care of things there started a game for me, which marked my gamer experience. The game was Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. I loved that game back then and I was playing it at least 2-3 hours a day. That moment also turned on my curiosity in regards to computers and games.
WG: Where are you from?
Schultz. I’m 20 years old, from Romania and I was born in a town called Rosiorii de Vede. During World War II there was an airfield at the outskirts of the town with IAR-80/81 planes and during Operation Tidal Wave our pilots had some dogfights with the American pilots around the area.
WG: What are some of your hobbies and activities?
Schultz: Besides gaming, I write news articles at a gaming site from Romania. I like to read a lot, on the internet, but also books, because nothing is compared to having a book in your hand; turn its pages and feel its smell.
Don’t hurry and judge me. I’m not that type of guy that sits in front of the computer or with his nose in the books all day. I play basketball, I go cycling, and recently I started with a new hobby: photography.
Also, I usually attend numerous gaming and hardware events in my country where I meet new people, so I can offer our readers some good articles.
WG: Do you have any military or aviation experience?
Schultz. Unfortunately I don’t have any military or aviation experience, but I have the knowledge.
WG: How long have you been playing WoWP?
Schultz. Oh boy! Since October 2011. I’m getting old, but so are you. :P
WG: What are some recent accomplishments you had ingame?
Schultz. I had yesterday 7 kills with the He-100. But to be honest kills don’t matter that much. All that matters is that you have some good time with your friends and test the game, so that later you can feel proud that you have helped the devs in making a better game.
WG: What are your favorite planes?
Schultz. The Me-410 with the 50 mm cannon and the rest of German heavy fighters, the Me-109 G, the He-100 and the A6M5.
WG: What’s your favorite map and Why?
Schultz. Well, I mostly love all the maps, but El Halluf would me my choice. I was always attracted by mysteries of the desert.
WG: What are your favorite aspects of the game?
Schultz. The main aspect that I like is that the game is fast paced and one game doesn’t take too long. Every game you play is different, you have tons of possibilities on how you can play it, but it’s all down to your skill and imagination.
WG: What is it about WoWP appeals to you?
Schultz. The planes and how they were made. I’m fond of WWII history and military equipment, tanks, planes, warships, guns, commanders, you name it. I know a little bit about everything and there is nothing that I can’t find. I’m always learning new things. After all, we all are in a continuous process of learning, even when we are asleep.
WG: Do you have any advice for new players?
Schultz: You are here to test the game, not play it. Try to play a lot of battles and don’t rush with the feedback, take it methodically. Most of you make the mistake of playing just a few games and then start ranting about the game or start posting bad feedback after testing just a little the new patch. Always try to go deeper into the game and find new ways of searching for bugs and “breaking” the game.
WG: What's your Twitch TV URL so people can follow your streaming activities?
Schultz: http://www.twitch.tv/overheatro
