Pilots!
You may know him from World of Tanks; he is quite an accomplished player there, but we invited him to take on the skies, and test his skills with us here in World of Warplanes. Good sport that he is, he has agreed to let us make him your personal punching bag every week, during the Shoot the Yoott event. Yes, we give you gold for shooting down this noob- pretty amazing!
We wanted to get to know more about this awesome player, so we asked him a few questions via email.
Wargaming: So tell us, what exactly is a Yoott?
Yoott: I have used this screen name anywhere I can any time I can and in every game I have played for going on over 15 years now (it helps that no one ever takes it before me as I'm terrible at new names for characters and such).
I do get asked a lot about my name so here it is the Official Truth ™ on the name Yoott:
Most times people hear my name in coms or even some smart phonetic people figure it out and scream,"THE TWO YOOTTS" or "DID YOU SAY YOOTT?" and even "WHAT IS A YOOTT?"
Most of them are referring to a quote from the movie My Cousin Vinny. Generally speaking, that’s where you would think my name came from, but you'd be incorrect.
Now don't get me wrong, I love that movie especially coming from New York... and having traveled extensively, I have had similar issues with my NY accent. But, The real location I got the name Yoott from all those many years ago is from a video game released in the late 90's, Yoot Tower.
There it is. The grand secret behind the name. I needed a name for an MMO way back then, and the box for that game was on my desk so… Yoot was my first try but then I added a T to make it long enough to meet the minimum character requirement.
Sorry it’s not more exciting and does not involve fire breathing dragons, ninjas, leaping off buildings with a parachute, at least you now know “WHAT IS A YOOTT”.
WG: How long have you been a gamer?
Yoott: 25 plus years.
WG: What are some of your hobbies / activities?
Yoott: Aside from gaming: bowling, golf, and hockey.
WG: What was your first MMO experience?
Yoott: I guess it was playing Muds way back when, I have played a ton of them over the years.
WG: How long have you been playing World of Warplanes?
Yoott: Since the alpha started.
WG: What are some recent accomplishments you had in World of Warplanes?
Yoott: Took out multiple aircraft and ground targets in one game and didn't hit the ground...First time for everything.
WG: What are your favorite planes?
Yoott: Currently I’m working on the American fighter tree heading towards the P51 series which I am excited to try out. I also played and liked the German 109 series, but that was before the garage was wiped, so I'm starting again this time in the US tree.
WG: What are your favorite aspects of the game?
Yoott: I love all the different aircraft available even now in the infancy of the game. As time goes on more and more will be added giving even more choices.
WG: What is it about WoWP that appeals to you?
Yoott: The same things from World of Tanks; the simple fact that every time you click the battle button it’s a different game, different map, different vehicles, different players it adds to the fun and repeat playability.
WG: Do you have any advice for new players?
Yoott: Don't lose hope or get frustrated when you repeatedly smash into the ground or water (I prefer the water), or that fighter ace that has been playing in planes real or imaginary since birth shoots you down. Take what happened, learn from it, adapt and adjust and work to get better.
WG: What’s your favorite map and why?
Yoott: Honestly I don't have a favorite map right now. I will say Pacific looks great and I'm excited to see what the future holds.
Yoott will be working closely with other World of Warplanes beta veterans to create some fresh perspective training guides for people who have never touched a joystick, WoWP, or World of Tanks. He's volunteered his time because he loves Wargaming, and just simply wanted to help out. This is why we're proud to have him with us,and introduce him to you as one of our Community Aces. Thanks Yoott, for being awesome!
