Pilots!
Greetings from the Wargaming Special Projects Team!
We recently unveiled the Wargaming.net Dornier 17 Interpretation Zone at the Royal Air Force (RAF) Museum in Cosford, England. The video above tells some of the story of the plane, the excavation, and the exhibition's unveiling.
As previously reported, we partnered with the RAF Museum and recovered the only known Dornier 17 aircraft from the depths of the ocean. This totally unique German light bomber was a major part of the Battle of Britain during World War II. It is currently being doused with citric acid in a restoration tent to prevent it from succumbing to the elements after 70-plus years under sea water.
The exhibition is now open to the public. However, for those of you who can’t make it out to the UK to see this amazing aircraft, you can download our augmented reality mobile app for visualizing the plane at specified locations all around the world.
Submit your photo of a virtual Dornier 17 near you, and you will be entered into a contest to have your photo featured at the unveiling of the next Wargaming.net RAF exhibit in London in early 2014. Details to come!
