Pilots,
Update 1.5 is on its way, and while we wait in anticipation, we want to introduce you to its main new feature: the Battle Against Bots battle type. Some of you may have already tried it during our Public Test of the new update. For those of you who didn’t, here’s a little tutorial on how this battle type will work and how to get started with it once the game goes live.
What does it mean to Battle Against Bots?
In World of Warplanes, the primary battle mode is Standard Battle, the traditional 15-on-15 player-vs-player mode where real human players face off against each other. While this mode is the mainstay of Wargaming titles, our designers are always interested in innovation.
To that end, we’re introducing the new Battle Against Bots battle type in Update 1.5. In this mode, you’ll play cooperatively with other humans against NPC bots. Three to five human players enter a battle together on the same team. The rest of their team, as well as the 15 opponents, are controlled by the computer, maintaining the 30-person team count.
The computer players are slightly more merciful than real human players, so this mode should be more approachable, particularly for new players. Battling against bots offers an opportunity to hone your skills or to test out a freshly unlocked plane in a more laid-back environment.
How do I get into this new battle type?
- By default, Standard Battle is selected. To enter Battle Against Bots, first click on the mode selection sub-menu to the right of the Battle button.
- Choose Battle Against Bots from the sub-menu.
- When launching Battle Against Bots for the first time, a window appears showing an overview of the main rules and features.
- Click the orange Battle button to enter the queue. You will be redirected to the waiting screen where you can see the number of players (sorted by class and tier) who have queued up alongside with you. As soon as three to five human players of the same tier are found, your battle starts.
- Once in battle, you will notice how all human players are always shown at the top of your team’s list. All the other players on your team, as well as on the enemy’s team, are bots. All bots are all marked with <> tags.
- Battle as you would in Standard Battle or Training Mode. Note that there are also new achievements for Battle Against Bots that you’ll be able to earn as you fly.
- Be effective, and you and your team will achieve victory against the bots. Now, it’s time to relax and admire the new ending cinematic that plays at the end of each battle.
What special rules apply for Battle Against Bots?
Since Battle Against Bots is a new mode, it comes with some new rules:
- You will not receive the usual rewards (XP or Credits) for battles in Battle Against Bots. Instead, you’ll be able to complete specific Battle Against Bots missions (like quests) for destroying aircraft or ground targets, which will grant their own type of reward. The degree of difficulty for these mission chains increases progressively.
- Both ammunition belts and consumables are replenished after each battle automatically for free.
- This battle type has its own battle missions and achievements.
- The results of this battle type are not being taken into account or displayed in your in-game profile. However, the completion of Battle Against Bots achievements will figure into that statistic.
Now you know everything there is to know about Battle Against Bots! Our designers will keep monitoring the results of the battle type to make sure it evolves nicely along with the rest of the game. We’re excited for the introduction of Battle Against Bots and can't wait for you to give it a try!
