Pilots!
We're proud to reveal the Japanese Tech Tree, along with some pretty sweet new renders and screenshots!
Currently, we have only one line of the japanese warplanes finished—carrier-based fighters, and it's no coincidence that they will be the next nation to be added to the World of Warplanes. Japan, an island nation, emphasized naval warfare and made careful consideration for aircraft launched from ships. Until the first half of the 20th century, aviation was not recognized as it's own branch of service in Japan.
The first tier plane of the Japanese World of Warplanes tree will be a light fighter, the Nakajima Type 91. It's followed by nine naval fighters from the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service. The legendary A6M2 Zero is represented, as well as an unusually designed fast interceptor, the Mitsubishi J4M1 Senden, and three types of Kyushu J7W fighters.
At the beginning of World War II, Japanese aircraft dominated the skies over East Asia and the Pacific. Their lightweight, mobile, well-armed fighters embodied the kendo philosophy of the pilots who flew them; many of whom were known to have carried samurai swords into the cockpit. World of Warplanes pilots will have the opportunity to take to the sky in these graceful and deadly aircraft from the Land of the Rising Sun.
