The world of naval aviation wouldn’t be as we know it today if it weren’t for the dedication and fearlessness of the brave pilots who risk their lives testing out prototype aircraft and other experiments. One of these dedicated pilots, Eugene Burton Ely, achieved many things in his short lifespan. In 1911, he was the first to successfully land a fixed-wing aircraft onto a ship.
