One of the most famous battles of World War II had British and German warplanes clashing in a brutal aerial fight. This long-lasting encounter became known as the “Battle of Britain,” which culminated on September 15, 1940, in a historic defeat of the German Luftwaffe on what is now called “Battle of Britain Day."
