Pilots!
As you know, World of Warplanes will conclude its Open Beta stage and officially launch on November 13. As is the custom for most online games, on that day the game will be reset, and all of your progress during the testing phase will be wiped in order to level the playing field for a fresh start. However, we do want to stick to our promise of rewarding test participation, and have prepared a number of bonuses, which will be credited to you, based on what stats you managed to achieve during the Alpha and Beta stages.
Before we get into the nitty-gritty of how exactly this will play out, take a look at this table. It gives an overview of the three main things to know – what carries over, what will be wiped and what do you gain?
What Carries Over? |
What Will be Wiped? |
What do You Gain? |
---|---|---|
I-15 bis (DM-2) F2A-1 Battle experience Victory marks 5 starting planes (Tier I) and 2 additional slots in the hangar Active premium account |
Planes and crew Modules, ammunition, equipment, consumables Camouflage and nose-art Credits Game stats and achievements Research progress |
Fully trained pilots for the Tier I starting planes Planes that you’ve purchased from pre-order packages Gift planes Testers’ Medals Award emblems Planes Fw.56, LBSh and F11C (if you’ve previously unlocked them via bonus codes) Premium account for all your earned tokens |
Not everything that you’ve unlocked during the testing period will be lost. A couple of things will carry over post-launch and either be available in the same form as before, or be transformed into something new.
If you’ve obtained either of these two planes during the testing phase, they will remain in your hangar after release. The I-15bis (DM-2) was credited to all players that joined the game before August 2013 and had played at least one battle by the time we celebrated our 15th Wargaming anniversary.
The F2A-1 Buffalo, on the other hand, was a Premium aircraft that was introduced into the game with Version 0.5.3. If you purchased this plane for tokens at any time during Open Beta then it will also remain in the hangar for you to use.
You will start out the game after release with all five starting aircraft (one from each nation) and two additional empty slots in the hangar.
All the battle experience that you’ve earned during Open Beta of the game will be transformed into crew experience and split evenly between the pilots of your starting planes. You can see your total earned experience in the ‘Achievements’ tab in the game.
If you have an active Premium Account running at the time of the release, it will remain active post-launch as well. Thanks to the ‘Unified Premium Account’, you’ll even be able to use it in World of Tanks.
All the marks on your planes for having taken out enemies or ground targets will remain on your planes (once you unlock those planes again) after release.
We want everybody, from the complete newcomer to the hardened veteran, to be able to enjoy a fun and evenly balanced World of Warplanes experience. To ensure this, it’s only fair that we remove any previously won achievements in order to create the same starting conditions for all players come release time.
What do You Gain?
Here’s the list of bonuses that will be credited to your account on release day as thanks for your testing efforts.
All participants of OBT will receive 100% trained pilots for all starting planes from each nation. This way, in combination with the transformation of battle experience into crew experience, you can have not only fully trained pilots, but also enough XP to immediately acquire one or more skills immediately after launch.
If you’ve picked up any of the three pre-order bundles that are exclusively available during Open Beta, then their contents (plane, gold & premium time) will be credited into your account on release day. The pre-order packages are still available until November 11th in the gift shop. Hurry!
These three planes can only be obtained through one of our sought-after bonus code cards. If you were lucky enough to score one at one of our recent Wargaming Community events, then the associated plane will be unlocked in your account on release day. Each plane will come with a 100% trained crew and the necessary slot to store the aircraft in your hangar.
If for some reason you didn’t manage to use up all the tokens that you earned during OBT before release, don’t worry – they are not lost. Instead, rather than have them go to waste, they will be automatically converted into Premium playing time. You can already do this on your own right now, to buy or extend your Premium Account for use in both World of Warplanes and World of Tanks. Come release time, the game will automatically use your tokens to purchase and add as much premium time as possible to your Wargaming account. Accounts with less than 250 tokens will be rounded up and given one additional day of Premium playing time.
As promised, all testers will receive a little gift for their efforts during the testing phase of the game. The earlier you joined and the more active you were, the more rewards you can expect. Check out the table below for an overview of all the rewards:

The gifted ‘parade camouflage’ is just an additional skin and gives no concealment bonuses to the plane. Later on, this special camouflage will be available for use on any plane. However, for the moment it’s only compatible with the following aircraft:
All emblems are issued in two variants so that players can decide for themselves which one they would like to add to their plane. Later on, these special emblems will be available for use on any plane. However, for the moment they are only compatible with the following aircraft:
