The Battle of Leyte Gulf took place late in October of 1944. Shortly after U.S. forces captured the island of Leyte in the Philippine Sea, Allied forces encountered the Japanese navy. Over four days, the opposing navies fought a fierce engagement that has also been called the Battles for Leyte Gulf, as the conflict was so extensive, it amounted to four different engagements. This fighting ultimately exhausted the already heavily depleted Japanese naval forces which did not return to prior dominance during the remainder of the war. In line with the anniversary of this encounter, we have a rare challenge for you: earn 25,000 base XP this week, and be rewarded with a American YP-29!
